Meghan’s been on the Keppra now for a week and has been tollerating it very well.   We’re uping the dose again this week to try to get her to a therapeutic level so that we can start to wean the Phenobarbital.  I put a note in her agenda for school reminding the teacher that Meg started the new medicine over spring break, to be aware of the possibility of behavioural changes (keppra can cause aggression in some children) and to let us know if they notice anything. 

Sooo, I get a call this evening from Meghans teacher telling me that Meghan had a fantastic day today, she didn’t know if we should see changes this quick with the new med, but apparently Meg made a positive 180 in class.  She was cutting out her school work without assistance (HUGE for her), participating in group activities, and everyone noticed a difference.  I don’t know if she’s just hitting another growth period, you know when things just click with children and they move to that next level of learning, or if it could be attributed to the meds?  Anyway I love hearing positive feedback from her teacher because I know how hard Meghan works at learning and fitting in.  EXCITED to see what the future holds and keeping my fingers crossed that this Medicine change is going to be the best thing we could’ve done for Meg.  Please, please say a few prayers for my baby girl.  Thanks!
