I’m in complete awe of a few British Mummy bloggers, Josie, Sian and Eva, who have decided to travel to Bangladesh to take pictures and document the work Save The Children is doing over there to aid mothers and children in their battle against poverty.
Their hope – to shed light on the fact that “every year almost 9 million children under the age of five die” many from preventable diseases. You can find out more about their journey and what you can do to help HERE.
Today Tara over at Sticky Fingers has dedicate her Gallery to these fabulous ladies and their quest calling it simply “One Day In August”. The jist of it is for bloggers all around the globe to take a picture on the same day, Sunday, August 29th to create “a living breathing journal of events”.
After I took a few pictures with my cell phone I thought ach they’re crap I’m not gonna post these!
However, then I chose to look at them again in a different light and really think about it.
The first picture I took was on my way back home from a day out with my sister and mom.
Unfortunately, in Bangladesh the roads are in poor condition, dirty, narrow and overcrowded. It amazes me that something as simple as this paved road, not to mention the green grass could be and is considered a luxury?!
Later that day, I took this picture of Meg helping daddy cook. Simple enough right?
However, again it’s chocked full of items like the refrigerator, the oven, the tap with running clean water, nutritious food, flooring, etc… that we take for granted every day!
Finally, I took this picture of a project Meg had to do for school!
What seemed like a chore at the time soon turned into a reminder of how fortunate we are.
We may not have a fancy car, but we have one and decent roads to travel on!
We may not have a fancy house, but we have a roof over our head, air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter!
We may not have the greatest medical system, but we have access to basic care!
These are just a few of the things that a lot of mothers and children in Bangladesh do not have access to. So let’s help these fabulous Mommy bloggers in their quest to raise awareness! Take a few minutes to look HERE and see what you can do to help!
Lovely pix. (BTW, Missy Woo just asked me if your blog background was a curtain, dunno why). There is so much we have that others don’t. I try to remind my two that they are very lucky sometimes. Not that they understand it too much, but it’s a start.

Thanks for reminding me of the daily things that I take for granted. Instead of complaing about cleaing my house I need to be thankful that I have one!

We do have a lot of things to be thankful for but we live in a society that’s always after the bigger, better, newer. I find myself getting caught up in this sometimes too so I remind myself of those people who are not as blessed as I am to live in such a country. I’ve never been to Bangladesh so I can’t attest to it but in the Philippines, where I grew up in, there is so much poverty that a lot of the things we take for granted here would be luxuries over there.
